Yukon Brewing is expanding
Posted on March 16, 2005 at 1:02 AM in News
The Yukon Brewing Company had a great year this past year. Sales in the Yukon saw growth of better that 20%.
Things in Alberta seem to be coming to life. We have great things starting to happen in Grande Prairie, and now one of the bars we are working with is opening another location in Lethbridge. We have a growing following in Calgary and Edmonton and a renewed focus there.
Last year we were already working the brewery at 100% of capacity for a significant part of the summer.
All this great news can only mean one thing. Expansion.
What is the most common form of expansion in the brewing industry these days? Well by buying other breweries.
As I write this column both Bob and Al, the brewery owners, are in the south and all of us here at the brewery are looking forward to them returning having bought some southern brews that we can try, and then lend a hand finishing the installations of the new tanks in the back.
Wait a minute; you didn’t think we were buying another brewery did you?
Well I guess it is close enough to April first and I get to say “gotcha” if you did.
We do have a lot of new equipment going into the brewery this year. Some of the tanks have already been moved to make room and new cooling equipment is sitting in the back ready to be installed. Not only do we have new equipment, but we have a new brand preparing to launch in time for the May long weekend.
I’d love to tell you all about it now, but I’ll save that for another post.
If you are out at the bars you might see someone new from the brewery out there.
Darcy has started on this week to keep our names and brands in all of your favourite watering holes.
